Our next 'Meet the Voice' event in Ross, Tasmania

ZW3N9261 233 500 450 80 rd 255 255 255

Yes you've landed on the right page to find out all about our next 'Meet the Voice' event in Ross, Tasmania, on 18 March 2018.

Located centrally between Launceston and Hobart on the Midlands Highway, Ross is an historic town on the banks of the Macquarie River and a great place to rest and stopover when traveling around the state.

With a wealth of history, some great buildings, good eateries and an interesting convict past, the town is listed on the Register of the National Estate.

Each year in March, for one weekend, we take up residence in the grounds of the very pretty Ross Motel & Caravan Park that backs on to the Macquarie River.

The 2018 'Meet the Voice' Fact Sheet

WHEN: Our next 'Meet the Voice' event will be run over the weekend of 17 & 18 March, 2018 - Many visitors like to turn up on the Saturday to unwind, pitch tent/set-up the caravan/book into their rooms, meet friends, make new ones, relax and enjoy a campfire chat into the night and then be ready for the main function which is held on Sunday.

WHAT TIME:  You are welcome to arrive any time on the Saturday if you intend staying the night. Registration starts from around 10.30am on the Sunday with the formal proceedings beginning around 11.30am and then at approx 12.30pm it's time to head to the BBQ to cook up a lunch and enjoy some relaxed food, drink and discussion time with fellow amateurs and their families.

WHERE: On the banks of the picturesque Macquarie River at the Ross Motel & Caravan Park, Tasmania Ross Location Map thumb - either follow the caravan park links in this article to make bookings, or contact us via this website for more help and details to guide you to this great event.

WHAT'S THE COST: If you're staying the night, then check with the Ross Motel & Caravan Park as their rates are very reasonable for a van and cabin accommodation is also available right at the ground, or if you desire, it's only a very short distance to the main street of Ross where other comfortable accommodation can also be found.

Other than your accommodation costs, a small donation of $5.00 on registration is considered helpful, which covers either a single amateur or a family. This donation goes to the Tasmanian Amateur Radio Clubs that maintain all the Amateur Radio Repeaters across the state.

WHAT TO BRING/WHAT'S AVAILABLE: Most of the amateurs who stay come pretty well prepared with their own cooking equipment, lighting, chairs, etc, but as long as you've got some food and a frying pan, the caravan park has an excellent undercover BBQ cooking area, fresh water, toilet facilities and showers, etc, all for a small fee from the caravan park if you are just visiting, or included in your overnight fee if you are staying there.

WHAT WILL BE HAPPENING: Apart from relaxing in a picture perfect spot, you will manage to...

  • find time to 'Meet the Voice' and catch up with old and new friends
  • hear some tall and short tales of amateur radio endeavors
  • see some great equipment being operated
  • buy or sell things you may or may not need for the shack
  • 'ignite the flame pit and char some mammal flesh' with your fellow amateurs
  • and join in on the Sunday as the Sewing Circle Net passes out some worthwhile and fun awards from the past year, including the much coveted 'Sewing Circle Trophy'.

So circle the date in your diary and start planning now, or better still, catch up with your fellow amateurs on the sewing circle net at 17.00hrs on 3.640Mhz AEST (or 7.120Mhz AEDST +/- QRM) and ask any questions there.

And of course, if you need any help or advice, just go to our Contact/Subscribe page and drop us a line and we'll get back to you as soon as we can with an answer and before you go, don't forget to check out the History of the Sewing Circle,  Meet the Voice and the coveted Sewing Circle Trophy right HERE
